At the start of college, I fell in love with the Smashing Pumpkins upon the release of their Siamese Dream album, which included "Today" as well as many other splendid songs. I got to see them at Lollapalooza in 1994 and I have rarely been so excited to see a band play.
I was young, wearing green corduroy overalls and thin enough to be hoisted onto the shoulders of a sturdy male friend. At the end of the evening, I was blissed out and had an intense sunburn, including the part on my hair where I had made two braids, height-of-grunge fashion.
