Song of the Day: "Chamber of Hellos" by Wire Train

<<last song
                                                                               >>next song

I like to think of myself as the queen of indie/alt/New Wave music. I was born in the '70s, was a kid in the '80s and came up in the '90s. But sometimes I find out I missed a group. In rare instances, it's a badass group.

Such is the case with Wire Train. A friend just shared their "Chamber of Hellos" with me and now it's song of the day on battlestar eclectica. I must learn more of this Wire Train

Song of the Day: "Balloon" by Emily Reo

                                                                                >>next song

"Balloon" by Emily Reo is pretty, charming and palate-cleansing. Real good indie rock. I need to further explore her catalogue.

Song of the Day: "This Life" by Vampire Weekend

                                                                                           >>next song

Despite the ominous band name, "This Life" by Vampire Weekend is the most happy-making song I've heard in a long time. I thought I might have detected an English accent. But no, Wikipedia tells me Vampire Weekend is an indie/alt rock band that formed in New York in 2006.

Song of the Day: "Jetty" by Tycho

                                                                                            >>next song

"Jetty" by San Francisco-based indie electronic musician Tycho is my song of the day on battlestar electica. Ambient and atmospheric. I hope you enjoy the ride.

Song of the Day: "Easy" by Tycho

                                                                          >>next song

I've never heard a song by Tycho, a San Fransisco-based indie electronic pop music musician, that isn't amazing. His new single "Easy" is no exception. It's pretty and wandering, with atmosphere so deep you could cut it with a knife.

Song of the Day: "Pictures of You" by The Cure

                                                                            >>next song

How did I, until this morning, underestimate the power of the guitar in 'Pictures Of You" by The Cure? It's pretty much a ladder to the sky.

Song of the Day: "Cheap Thrills" by Sia ft. Sean Paul

                   >>next song

I can't stop imitating Sean Paul when I hear this song: "You're worth more dan diamond, more dan go-eld. Free yourself, get out of contro-el." "Cheap Thrills" by Sia ft. Sean Paul is song of the day on the battlestar eclectic blog.

Song of the Day: "In the Heart You Have" by Lonesome

         >>next song

"In the Heart You Have" by Lonesome is a very pretty song. There are little surprises along the way, including the guitar crescendo at the end. (Sorry about the spoiler)

Song of the Day: "Now or Never" by Saltwater Sun

                                                                                  <<next song

I am absolutely amazed at how cool this new (to me) band is.  I'm gonna have to dive deep into the catalogue of this indie rock outfit. My song of the day is "Now or Never" by Saltwater Sun

Wow. "The Great Deceiver" by Saltwater Sun is an awesome song. What a cool discovery I made on Letsloop today.  It charts untraveled territory between Siouxsie and the Banshees and Lana Del Rey.

The internet tells me Saltwater Sun is a 5-piece band from West London and the lead vocalist is Jen Stern.

Random Musing: More than a passing resemblance. . .

<<last musing

>>next musing

For years, I've tried to convince anyone who will listen that the guy on the Tapatio hot sauce bottle looks like young Larry Hagman.

Now, thanks to some crude digital editing, I'm able to make my case. Who's with me?

Song of the Day: "Night Signs" by The Ophelias

                                                                               >>next song

The Ophelias are amazing. Low-key masters of mood. Wikipedia tells me this all-girl powerhouse is a rock band from Cincinnati, Ohio formed in 2015.
