"A little bit of this. A little bit of that. A pot, a pan, a broom, a hat. . ."—Anatevka, "Fiddler on the Roof." This is a blog about everything and nothing. A little parenting, a little humor, some poetry, news, essays, a lot of music. I don't want to waste your time, just send positive vibes into the blogosphere. Oh, yeah, my name is Sarah Torribio. Enough about me, how are you?

Song of the Day: "Don't Be So Hard On Yourself" by Alex Lahey
<< last song
I've just stumbled across this great Australian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist named Alex Lahey. Her "Don't Be So Hard On Yourself" is a really great indie-pop hit—layered and really pretty. And yes, she busts into some great new-romantic sax right in the middle of this worthy tune.

Song of the Day: "Forever" by Billy Raffoul
This young singer/songwriter Billy Raffoul has the raspy, bluesy, pained voice of Bruce Springsteen. But instead of being a wrenching ballad of yearning and loss, his song "Forever" is a catchy and sweet love song that goes down like a package of pop rocks. I think this guy's going somewhere.

Song of the Day: "Sam's Town" by The Killers
"Sam's Town" by the Killers has such a careening momentum. I can only describe it at reckless and rip-roaring.
My favorite lyrics from this song are: "I still remember Grandma Dixie's wake/I'd never really known anybody to die before/Red, white and blue on a birthday cake/My brother was born on the Fourth of July and that's all. . ." I hope I got at least some of those lyrics right. They're as elegiacally American as Mark Twain.
