"A little bit of this. A little bit of that. A pot, a pan, a broom, a hat. . ."—Anatevka, "Fiddler on the Roof." This is a blog about everything and nothing. A little parenting, a little humor, some poetry, news, essays, a lot of music. I don't want to waste your time, just send positive vibes into the blogosphere. Oh, yeah, my name is Sarah Torribio. Enough about me, how are you?

Epigram of the Day: "Long division"
<<last epigram

Usually, I'm like, "God save me from a political poem." They're not my bag.
But lately I've been writing these social critiques, often dealing with the record-wide political divide between Americans. At times it feels like a civic cold war.
What can I say? I share because I care. And I must follow my muse, even if it leads to wind-baggery.

Song of the Day: "Lovely" (with Khalid) by Billie Eilish
I'm delving into the music of singer/songwriter Billie Eilish after almost being scared off by her "You Should See Me In A Crown" insect-crawling MK ultra video. (The song itself is undeniably cool)
Billie Eilish has a great voice, with a range that glides from alto to soprano and a mood that shifts from bratty to bluesy. There's something smart and cool and subversive going on with this girl, who's only like 17. She's got the precocious charisma of young discoveries like Fiona Apple and Lorde, both of whom have careers that are still going strong.
Wikipedia informs me that this songstress, who just possibly is from the future, has a long and wild full name: Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O'Connell. I'm reminded of feminist icon Pippi Longstocking's full name: Pippolotta Delicatessa Windowshade Mackrelmint Ephraim's Daughter Longstocking. Being famous this young, I hope she has good and involved parents. (Billie, not Pippi, who famously lived all by herself)
"Lovely" is a pretty, melancholy, atmospheric Billie Eilish performs with Khalid. They've come up with some honeyed harmonies, and it's song of the day on Battlestar Eclectica blog.

Random Musing: "Parenting amid consumerism"

Savannah is watching cartoons while I'm on the computer and, man, those commercials. They are trying to sell us ALL the toys and also a tropical family vacation and a trip to an aquarium in northern Utah.
I actually really want to go to the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium, by the way, because they have sloths and, well, sloths.
