My latest electronic composition. . .

I made some music, of the usual electronic/ambient genre I have been exploring as of late. I used GarageBand and Beatlab, then uploaded it on Bandcamp.

It's called "Best Time I Ever Had." Fans of "Romancing the Stone" and the lovely Kathleen Turner should appreciate it.

This ambient piece, called "Old Time's Sake," is soporific and owes much to Ingrid Bergman. Per usual, I made it with a combination of Beatlab and Garageband, and have uploaded it onto Bandcamp.

I just re-watched the video for "Elastic Heart" by Sia I have new respect for Shia LaBeouf and his total commitment to authenticity in all he does. He is so wonderfully weird.

Of course young dancer Maddie Ziegler is a bad-ass, but Shia deserves a Best Actor Academy Award for his emotion-charged, brute-force-infused interpretive dance.

By the way, next time I'm up in the club, I might channel some of these moves. We're talking the "Reptilian Floor Crawl," the "Charging Gorilla Growl Fake-Out," the "Heart Palpitations," the "Help, I Can No Longer Vocalize," the "Fierce Creature Jumping On Your Back," the "Look, I Don't Bite," "The Bite," the "I'm Tired, Do You Mind Dragging Me For a Minute?" and the "Punch-Induced Funny Face."

Anyone know where I can get a large cage?

By the way, if you play it on repeat, I won't judge you. I'm a play it on repeat kind of gal, and that's just what I'm doing now.
"So Now What" is an absolutely lovely song by indie rockers The Shins. That Natalie Portman character in "Garden State" was right. Their music WILL change your life.

I got a wake-up call from the universe to slow my roll. Stop trying to do so much stuff and spinning in circles, and stop chasing every single thought and idea.

And it wasn't a cool wake-up, like when you're a kid and sleeping with a fan and some song from KOST 103.5 comes on, perhaps "You Are the Sun, You Are the Rain" by one Lionel Ritchie—whose voice is the very sound of love—to gently nudge you out of bed. 

So, I'm taking it easy. I started a garden, including two tomatoes in, of all things, pots. They are ensconced in this fenced-in area where the loving but destructive Koda/Cody can't destroy them. And fortified with really good store-bought soil.

Baby steps. And cherry tomatoes.

Song of the Day: "Tonight Tonight" by The Smashing Pumpkins

The Smashing Pumpkins' "Tonight Tonight" is an epic and timeless alt-rock masterpiece. In fact, the entire two-disc album of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness is an epiphany.

At the start of college, I fell in love with the Smashing Pumpkins upon the release of their Siamese Dream album, which included "Today" as well as many other splendid songs. I got to see them at Lollapalooza in 1994 and I have rarely been so excited to see a band play.

I was young, wearing green corduroy overalls and thin enough to be hoisted onto the shoulders of a sturdy male friend. At the end of the evening, I was blissed out and had an intense sunburn, including the part on my hair where I had made two braids, height-of-grunge fashion.
